Counselling is a talking therapy based upon a respectful caring relationship within agreed boundaries.
It does not involve giving advice or directing a client to take a particular course of action. Worksheets and homework may be used at times, the aim being to enable our clients to take control of their lives to achieve positive change and increased well being.
80% of people feel better after a course of counselling. Although the actual length of therapy varies with each individual, the average number of sessions our clients attend is six.
Counselling is available for adults, and young people aged 16 years and above.
- We offer general counselling for a wide range of problems including:
- Relationship problems
- Adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse
- Loss and Bereavement
- Spiritual issues
While the ethos of HOPE lies within the Christian tradition, our service is available to those of any faith and none. We offer the opportunity to explore issues from the perspective of Christianity for those who specifically request it.
